Why would anyone freely enter into pain?

Updated: Oct 12, 2018

You know the familiar statement "no pain, no gain?" Well it's absolutely true. Anything that involves change or growth is going to require the experience of pain. The process of birth requires pain. Babies fall down when learning to walk...often. Preparing for the big race requires hours of pain and discomfort. Turning from an addiction requires pain. So why do we do it, if we are wired to avoid pain? The turning point for many occurs when we recognize the competing demands of change vs staying the same. And we realize that the pain involved in staying the same outweighs the pain of change. It's looking truthfully at what we want in life and who we want to be. Its allowing truth to penetrate our spirit and experiencing the pain that propels us forward. Is there some pain you've been avoiding? Some pain that if you entered into it would create the momentum you need to become more of who you were meant to be?
